Laundry rescue
Can I save it?
Shrunk your favourite sweater, or a red sock turned the whites pink? Tell us what happened and get honest odds and a step-by-step plan using things you already have at home.
Quick first aid, before you do anything else
- Shrunk wool or cotton: do not dry it again. Heat makes it permanent. Keep it damp until you start the rescue.
- Dye ran onto other clothes: do not put them in the dryer. Rewash the stained items in cold water straight away, while the dye is still loose.
- Bleach spots: rinse with lots of cold water to stop the bleach working.
